SmartQC: Smart Contracts for Automated Batch Release

Apr 2021 - Sept 2023

Blockchain-enabled supply chain platform for medical device manufacturing, improving traceability and reducing reconciliation overhead.

Problem Statement

  • Batch release processes require traceable evidence across fragmented systems.
  • Manual reconciliation increases delay and operational risk.
  • Provenance and integrity guarantees were difficult to enforce consistently.

What I Led

  • Designed a Layer 2 protocol to strengthen transaction integrity, veracity, and provenance.
  • Led implementation of a full-stack demonstrator to validate architecture viability.
  • Connected technical design choices to practical manufacturing release workflows.

Deliverables

  • Layer 2 protocol design
  • End-to-end demonstrator platform
  • Provenance and auditability workflow design

Industry Relevance

Offers regulated manufacturing environments an auditable and automation-friendly architecture for quality-critical batch release processes.

Core idea

SmartQC reframed traceability as an engineering artifact, not an after-the-fact reporting step.

Engineering outcomes

  • Stronger provenance guarantees
  • Reduced reconciliation complexity
  • A practical reference implementation for industry adoption
